EDUC 215 K-12 Ethnic Studies Pedagogy
Supports collective development and practices as K-12 ethnic studies teachers, specifically through: 1) review of ethnic studies pedagogical reasoning and decision-making; 2) routine connections and systematic analyses drawn between ethnic studies teaching frameworks and K-12 classroom settings; and 3) field-based inquiry of teaching practices. Alongside empirical texts that offer resources for conceptualizing what ethnic studies education can look and feel like (and to what ends), course examines, applies, and reflects on pedagogical designs for teaching ethnic studies and core content areas (multiple subject, social studies, English language arts, math, science) through an ethnic studies framework.
