SCIC 203 Science Communication Field Study
This five-day immersive field course trains science communication graduate students to translate complex environmental issues into compelling narratives. Through site visits, expert talks, and hands-on observation at a beautiful and environmentally rare nationally protected area, students examine tensions between conservation, agriculture, and community. Activities include interviewing practitioners, analyzing media (film and journalism), and reflecting on storytelling strategies. Emphasis is placed on understanding and communicating complex issues, framing and journalism ethics in real-world contexts.
