The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education minor serves students in STEM majors who are considering careers in secondary mathematics or science teaching.

Entry into EDUC 100 and EDUC 185L is contingent upon successful completion of previous CalTeach internships and sufficient university-level science or mathematics coursework.
To Declare:
Complete or be enrolled in EDUC 50
Meet with Education’s Department advisor or peer advisor
Submit a petition in MyUCSC
Share your major Academic Planning Form with the department’s undergraduate advisor
Course Requirements
The STEM Education minor consists of eight courses, totaling 32 credits and includes approximately 75 hours of classroom field placements. Students may take courses for a letter grade or Pass/No Pass.
